THE AGAINST TYPE THEATER

Against Type Theater Company performances include written background
materials about the artist and the specific performances, with
connections to school curriculum in multiple subject areas.
We can provide
up to three on-campus assembly performances to support the entire
student body.
All of
our productions are available for Colleges, University, Churches and
Organizations.

ROBESON
This one-man show is a
stunning account of the life and times of Americas first truly
Renaissance man, an accomplished scholar, lawyer, athlete, actor,
vocalist and activist, Paul Robeson. Performed by actor, Ben Guillory
(The Color Purple, Young and the Restless) this show promises an
insightful look into this international hero. (suitable for Middle
and High school students)

ART ALIVE: FIVE WANTED WOMEN
A
historical account of five influential women who shaped world history,
Queen Amina, the African Queen who led an army of men to capture the
land now known as Nigeria. Cathay Williams, the Black female Buffalo
Solider, Malinche, the enslaved Aztez Indian women turned interpreter
who helped closed the language gap between the Spaniards and her native
people, Dowager Empress who seized control of the Chinese government,
and Grace O’Malley the famous Pirate and Chieftain in Ireland in the
1500’s. (suitable for high school students) *

These productions support the California
standards and framework for Theater and/or History content standards,
which are designed to encourage the highest achievement of every
student. The thought provocative programs serve as a backdrop for
stimulated discussions and class projects.

Assembly Performances and Workshops
We are prepared to travel to your school and
perform one, two or three performances per day. Each performance is
designed to fit within your classroom schedule.
Included in the cost of the performances is a pre
and post performance discussion sheet for teachers to review with the
students.
For an extra charge The Against Type Theater
Company staff will conduct an in depth pre and/or post production
workshop if desired.
Package I – Includes performance plus a
pre and post performance discussion sheet for teachers to review with
students in class.
Package II – Includes performance plus an
in-class visit by one of the production staff for either a pre or
post performance discussion and workshop.
Package III –
